
Why our infrared towel rails actually last
Let’s be honest: bathrooms are a nightmare for electronics. Between the thick steam from a hot shower and the occasional accidental splash, it’s basically a torture chamber for anything with a circuit board. Most heaters just can’t handle it. They rust, they short out, and then they’re trash. We wanted to build something that doesn’t do that.
Dealing with the damp
The real killer isn’t usually a big spill—it’s the condensation. You know that fine mist that settles on everything after a shower? When a heater cools down, that moisture clings to the electrical parts. If it gets inside, it creates a path for electricity to go where it shouldn’t. That’s why we use specialized seals. We basically wrap the heating core in a protective layer to keep the mist out. No moisture inside means no premature burn-out. Simple.
Keeping the water out
Then there are the splashes. Whether it’s a wet towel or a stray drop of water, it happens. We don’t just “hope” the casing works. We use precision-molded housings and gaskets that meet strict IP ratings. Basically, the design makes water slide right off the outside instead of seeping into the wiring. It’s the difference between a leak and a bead of water just rolling away.
The tricky part: Heat vs. Protection
Here’s the thing: if you seal a heater too tightly, you create an oven. The internal electronics would just cook themselves. It’s a bit of a balancing act. We use materials for the chassis that are thermally conductive. This lets the unit “breathe” out the excess heat while still acting as a shield against liquid water. It’s the best of both worlds. One quick tip for when you’re installing it:make sure it’s perfectly level. If the unit tilts, water can pool in spots it’s not supposed to, which puts a lot of unnecessary stress on those seals. Just take an extra second with the level tool during setup. Do that, and your heater will outlast the cheap stuff by a long shot.
